Goldman Suchs has reached a settlement on the fraud accusations brought on them by the SEC. Goldman Suchs made billions upon billions and will only be paying half a billion in fines.

Yeah, they're probably celebrating the resounding defeat they got handed. With champaign and caviar.

There is quite some funny business going on at the moment. The mainstream media in Germany is white washing the news in a fashion that it's hard to believe. News coverage is always selective, true, but these fine days they're really going out of their way to "look elsewhere" and to blend out anything related to the economic issues. Even Goebbels couldn't have done a better job himself than what the media is now doing on their own.

It even goes much further than just new of economic matters. Like the funny business that US and Israel did hold a large scale joint training exercise recently, in which US and Israeli planes trained long range strikes against hardened targets. Or that Israeli planes not only have gained overflight rights over Saudi Arabia, but also have been stationed on an airbase in western Saudi Arabia. Or that Germanies newest Anti-Missile frigate F221 Hessen (an "Aegis cruiser for the poor") has been involved in the US/Israel exercises as picket ship for the US task force, or that the German Navy detachment station at the horn of Africa is being relocated at the end of their mandate. They'll join the Hessen to help guard one of the three US carrier task forces that are in striking distance of Iran. Or that the German troops in Afghanistan have been handed dictionaries and language training materiels for Persian language. Which is not really spoken in Afghanistan. Or at least not up north where our troops are stationed. The only related info that made it, is that some long delayed material is now reaching the troops, like the PzH 2000 mobile artillery (similar to the US "Paladin") or more AVF's. They even went as far as buying suitable gear from Switzerland (of all places) instead of going through proper channels and having some of the newer AFV's built domestically.

Sooo ... Iran in August and new currency in September?

Goldman Sachs reveals who got da money. This is an eye opener, and the fact that taxpayers got stuck with such a huge bill due to their fraud is amazing. It puts that half a billion dollar fine in perspective as nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
