I'm sure I have seen Wildstar post links to a mod that allowed XvT, XWA and the X-wing CS stuff to be installed/played on Vista (which should also work on win 7)

Arrogance is unavoidable. The trick is to find an arrogance you can live with.

Re: weeel

DOSBox is great for pre-Win9x games. I have both a 98SE machine and my XP netbook for the occasional Win9x game that won't run under Win7-64.

It's interesting how many otherwise 32-bit clean programs had 16-bit installers back then, but I guess I can't blame them. Why upgrade InstallShield if you don't have to?

Yeah, Ranger, the real trick is getting the games installed in the first place, and someone wrote replacement MSI installer packages a while ago that I'll link below. Yes, you'll still need the CDs, but the installer packages allow the games to be installed through Windows Installer.

Windows XP Mode

In essence an XP virtual machine run in Win 7. Unfortunately only for Pro or Ultimate. However you can download VMWare Player for free and as long as you have an original XP disc you can build a Virtual Machine anyway.

Re: weeel

XP Mode doesn't seem to be a good choice for games. The emulated 2D video card is good enough for Office 97, though. :)

Try Sun (oracle) Virtualbox. It has 3D support. (www.virtualbox.org)
