For the Diablo Lovers

For those of you (like me) who are eagerly awaiting Diablo 3's release, some of the devs who worked on the previous Diablo games released Torchlight not too long ago.

Its a pretty similar game to Diablo 3 in what has been seen so far. Updated graphics, the same goodies, and a few new ones to boot.

The game also has a substantial Mod making fan base. There were dev tools released to all and you can do anything from make your own maps to create your own classes. There are some impressive player made additions you can check out, as well as a great program to track, install, and watch for any Mod conflicts called Torchleech. Not every mod is on torchleech, but the folks who run it try to keep most of the stable ones as they come.

The only downside to the game is that it does not have multiplayer, but there are some Mod makers who have gotten basic proof of concept videos out of working multiplayer games recorded and on sites like YouTube.

Anyhow, its a fun time waster while we wait for Diablo 3 next year for those interested. It has a free 2 hour demo that can be downloaded (the full game download takes less than 5 minutes), and costs 20 bucks to unlock the full version.
The two enemies of the people are criminals and government. We tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so it will not become the legalized version of the first..

Re: For the Diablo Lovers

Torchlight's OK. Came out at the end of October. I've played it a bit but not all the way through. (I've got a bunch of games installed right now where that's true. :(

I might have tried to get my friends into it if it had multiplayer. LAN Diablo/Diablo II was what got us to play in the first place; I'm not so big on Battle.Net. Too bad that's not going to be an option a year or two from now when Diablo III makes it out.
